Direct Support Professional - 3rd Shift

Overview

Genesee Lake School, a MyPath company, provides educational, vocational, and therapeutic residential services for adolescents, teenagers, and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders, anxiety, mood disorders, and complex trauma.

This role is for a Direct Support Professional - 3rd Shift.

• Assist in program and respite coverage as needed, supporting students across any group assignment.
• Provide supervision, coaching, modeling, engagement, and support of students in all aspects of daily living, recreation activities, self-care skills, social and peer interaction, community integration, and emotion regulation.
• Implement agency and individual treatment approaches for students identified in ITPs, IEPs, and by the treatment team.
• Coach Direct Support Professionals on therapeutic approaches and agency-approved interventions in real-time.
• Provide constructive feedback and role modeling.
• Provide overall building support by helping with transition times as well as responding to and assisting with crisis situations including but not limited to behavioral incidents and elopement.
• Step into coverage as staff in ratio to alleviate staff members requiring short breaks, staff emergencies, or during medical emergencies to accompany students to receive care as needed.
• Provide transportation assistance to students for home visits or appointments and deliver medications.
• Administer medication following agency-approved medication administration procedure.
• Perform quality assurance checks to ensure proper and accurate medication administration.
• Serve as a back-up Building Coordinator as needed.
• Pass medication and respond to calls for additional support.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate or bachelor's degree in a social or behavioral science field preferred.
• Minimum one year of experience working with children and/or adults having developmental and behavioral disabilities with associated emotional, neurological, and intellectual disorders in a residential setting preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment and effectively solve problems.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining self-composure and self-control.
• Self-motivated and able to work under minimal direct supervision.
• Valid Wi driver’s license with an acceptable driving record per company policy.

This is a full-time, 40 hour/week position that requires availability to work alternating weekends, double shifts, and a holiday rotation.
