LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR NATURE OF POSITION
Provides mental health counseling services to individuals, families, and groups. The Licensed Professional Counselor assesses, diagnoses, and treats emotional, behavioral, and mental health conditions using evidence‑based therapeutic approaches to promote patient well‑being and recovery.
QUALIFICATIONS- Graduation from an accredited LPC program and certified to practice by the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health.
- An unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Oklahoma.
- Board certified in any applicable specialty areas.
- Knowledge and skills in professional counseling work in community health centers.
- Knowledge of the state and federal laws pertaining to patient care and to community health centers.
- Knowledge of the structure and function of community health centers.
- Experience in interdisciplinary health teams and skill in communicating effectively with patients and their families.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients and the general public.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Professionals Certification.
- Conduct mental health assessments and evaluations.
- Provide counseling and crisis intervention as appropriate.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
- Provide compassionate, culturally competent care.
- Address emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial concerns.
- Educate patients and families on mental health conditions and treatments.
- Promote recovery‑oriented and trauma‑informed care.
- Collaborate with care teams including primary care, behavioral health providers, case management, and dental services.
- Refer patients to specialists and community resources as needed to ensure appropriate follow‑up.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Address social determinants of health affecting patient outcomes.
- Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Comply with organizational policies and procedures.
- Support quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and performance metrics (e.g., UDS reporting).
- Maintain productivity standards while ensuring high‑quality care.
- Provide patient‑centered, culturally sensitive care to diverse populations.
- Educate patients and families on disease prevention, treatment plans and self‑management.
- Support trauma‑informed and value‑based care models.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education.
- Support teaching and supervision of students or residents when applicable.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
