Job Summary
The Physical Therapist Assistant (Internal Traveler) provides clinical patient care by administering appropriate treatment. This role completes patient records in a timely manner. Provides instruction (teaching) to patients and/or family members.
Minimum EducationAssociate’s Degree in Physical Therapist Assistant from an accredited program.
Licensure, Registration and/or CertificationValid State of Oklahoma Licensure in Physical Therapist Assistant.
Work Experience6 months related experience.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Ability to use computers, basic computer knowledge, as needed for data input and reporting. Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective time management skills.
Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesProvides clinical patient care by administering appropriate treatment. Progresses patient treatment as appropriate. Assists RPT in modifying and re-setting functional goals. Carries patient load that reflects productivity standards.
Provides documentation by:
- maintaining appropriate treatment records;
- completing accurate daily patient charge sheets.
Maintains technical (education) expertise through:
- attendance and participation in continuing education activities;
- departmental in-services.
Provides instruction (teaching) to patients and/or family members. Follows care path guidelines for patient/family education and documentation of home programs. Teaches patient/family member proper use of equipment issued. Follows set guidelines for daily operations. Schedules and prioritizes daily work assignments. Delegates, as appropriate, to support personnel basic patient treatments to follow through with. Assists with PT volunteers and RPTA students as requested by (in‑charge) therapist.
Consistent and correct time‑care utilization.
Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.
Working RelationshipsCoordinates activities of others (does not supervise). Leads others in same work performed (does not supervise). Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
