Occupational Therapy Assistant
Provides rehabilitative occupational therapy services to patients under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. Focuses on supporting patients' cognitive and physical functioning through evidence-based interventions to enhance independence and quality of life.
Responsibilities:
- Implement treatment plans by administering therapeutic activities, exercises, modalities, and assistive devices.
- Assess patient progress and communicate updates to the supervising Occupational Therapist to modify treatments as needed.
- Educate patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare providers on treatment strategies and patient needs.
- Document all clinical encounters accurately in electronic health records, including treatment minutes and progress notes.
- Participate in patient care team meetings, trainings, and in-services to ensure continuous professional development.
- Support the acquisition of necessary DME and supplies in collaboration with the supervising Therapist.
Qualifications:
- Hold an active State Licensure/Registration as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Possess a minimum of 1 year of OTA experience, preferably in LTC or rehab settings.
- Hold a valid COTA license and meet all state licensing requirements.
- Demonstrate knowledge of clinical interventions, documentation standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Exhibit strong communication, teamwork, and patient education skills.
