About the Role:

Pacific Coast Speech Services is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist Supervisor to provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and professional guidance to school-based Clinical Fellows (CFs) and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants (SLPAs). This is a supervisory and consultative position ; supervisors will not maintain a student caseload or provide direct therapy.

The SLP Supervisor will support CFs and SLPAs in developing their clinical skills, navigating school-based processes, maintaining compliance, and delivering high-quality speech and language services. This position includes a combination of on-campus direct supervision and off-campus indirect supervision , with flexible scheduling.

Speech-Language Pathologist Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

Direct Supervision – On Campus | Approximately 8 hours/month

  • Provide in-person clinical supervision and mentorship to school-based CFs and SLPAs.
  • Observe clinical practices and provide constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Support supervises with appropriate clinical decision-making and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide instruction and guidance related to:
    • Clinical practices
    • Data collection
    • Report writing
    • IEP processes and documentation
    • Service delivery and professional responsibilities
  • Attend or provide guidance regarding IEP meetings and multidisciplinary collaboration as appropriate.
  • Monitor progress toward CF and/or SLPA supervision requirements.

Indirect Supervision – Off Campus | Approximately 4–15 hours/month

  • Review and provide feedback on assessments, reports, and clinical documentation completed by supervises.
  • Assist with setting up and managing appropriate therapy schedules.
  • Provide instruction and guidance on:
    • SEIS
    • Medi-Cal billing
    • IEP goals, including reviewing and editing goals
    • Referral, screening, and dismissal processes
    • Determining eligibility
    • Determining when students may exit speech services
    • Service levels and Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)
  • Guide supervises in navigating parent and teacher communication.
  • Provide consultation regarding unique or uncommon communication disorders, including:
    • Cleft palate
    • Stuttering
    • Voice disorders
  • Maintain required ASHA documentation, including CF performance reviews and supervision records.
  • Answer questions regarding SLP roles, responsibilities, scope of practice, and school-based procedures.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and professional development to support supervises’ growth and success.
  • Identify areas for improvement and provide actionable feedback to promote clinical competency and confidence.
Speech-Language Pathologist Supervisor

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Current and unrestricted SLP license in California
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
  • Experience working in school-based or pediatric settings preferred
  • Experience supervising Clinical Fellows and/or SLPAs preferred
  • Strong knowledge of special education, IEP processes, and school-based speech and language services
  • Strong understanding of ASHA supervision requirements and documentation
