Work Schedule: Monday – Friday (2 pm – 11 pm)
SummaryOversees maintenance and repairs of ammonia refrigeration systems. Supervises refrigeration employees. Maintains temperature to plant specifications and USDA requirements. Keeps accurate records for local, state, and federal inspections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintains and keeps all cooling and air handling machinery.
- Maintains accurate records.
- Maintains accurate preventative maintenance (PM) schedule to equipment specifications.
- Trains and supervises employees.
- Consistently maintains critical temperature requirements throughout facilities.
- Enforces safety rules.
- Maintains government regulations regarding ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Maintains Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Has ability to drive a vehicle for company business purposes.
- Submits to and passes a background investigation.
- Position is safety-sensitive.
Directly supervises 6-8 employees in the refrigeration department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and ExperienceFive years ammonia refrigeration experience and Process Safety Management experience. Electrical experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
SkillsLanguage: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Mathematical: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer: Knowledge of human resources systems and ERP software. Some knowledge of Microsoft Office systems.
Physical Demands: Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach, climb, balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision: distance, color, peripheral, depth, focus.
Work EnvironmentWet/humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high/precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather; risk of electrical shock, explosives, vibration; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; radiation; loud noise level.
