Position SummaryThe Assistant Program Director for Residential Services works under direction of the Shelter Program Director, is responsible for the coordination of day-to-day operations and budgetary aspects of program in a specific geographical area; may manage and supervise program staff.
Essential Job Functions- Support budgetary, employee management, program, and organizational goals.
- Interact with community/professional leaders and maintain relationships/networks.
- Manage internal/external relationships with autonomy and sound decision-making.
- Collaborate with partner organizations as a team member.
- Foster a safe and welcoming environment for youth, families, and colleagues, ensuring emotional and physical security without re-traumatization.
- Follow a trauma-informed approach, demonstrating sensitivity to individuals’ needs and experiences.
- Provide Shelter Management oversight in the Program Director's absence.
- Offer daily support and technical assistance to supervisors and staff.
- Knowledge of interagency agreements/contracts.
- Participate in community/regional committees and collaborative teams as directed.
- Identify and coordinate training needs for staff development, ensuring annual training goals.
- Stay updated on trends and participate in professional organizations.
- Follow YFA organization and Residential Services policies and procedures.
- Trained and authorized to access protected health information.
- Manage special projects as assigned.
- Facilitate large groups and manage group dynamics.
- Arrive on time and ready to work.
- Maintain dignity and respect in the workplace.
- Adhere to YFA's core values and mission statement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in Social Work or related field of study. Subject matter expertise in Residential Group Home/Shelter Management; 6+ years’ experience in human services. Ability to practice self‑well care and seek support as needed to prevent burnout while providing trauma‑informed care.
Physical RequirementsAbility to travel on occasionally asneeded; ability to bend, lift, and carry 30 pounds.
