This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of cash application processes within a high-volume healthcare revenue cycle environment. You will lead a team focused on optimizing payment posting, reducing unapplied cash, and improving overall revenue integrity. The position combines hands‑on operational oversight with strategic process improvement, making it ideal for a leader who enjoys both people management and performance optimization.
You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional RCM leaders, payers, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and streamline workflows. A strong emphasis is placed on data‑driven decision‑making, KPI tracking, and continuous improvement. This is a remote opportunity to contribute directly to financial performance while supporting care delivery operations that impact patients nationwide.
- Lead and develop a team of RCM Cash Application Representatives, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to ensure operational excellence and professional growth.
- Oversee daily cash application operations, ensuring payments are posted accurately and within established timelines, with a focus on minimizing unapplied cash.
- Monitor and improve electronic payment adoption (EFT/835) and ensure efficient remittance processing.
- Manage month‑end close activities related to cash application, ensuring deadlines and reporting requirements are met consistently.
- Analyze daily reports, dashboards, and worklists to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Collaborate with payers and internal RCM teams to resolve payment discrepancies, delays, and revenue cycle issues.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, process documentation, and workflow maps to support standardization and scalability.
- Build and present KPI reporting to leadership, ensuring visibility into team performance, cash flow efficiency, and operational health.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance revenue cycle performance, reduce cash delays, and improve operational efficiency.
- Support strategic RCM initiatives, cross‑functional projects, and broader organizational transformation efforts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience in revenue cycle management or healthcare cash application operations.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams, including hiring, training, coaching, and performance management.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and revenue cycle processes within healthcare environments.
- Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, and/or long‑term care insurance is strongly preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and data analysis tools.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify root causes and implement practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and external partners.
- Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, metrics‑driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop processes, improve workflows, and drive operational efficiency.
- Annual salary range: $85,000 – $90,000
