Inspectors are key personnel in the Accurus Quality Department, and their duties are integral to our overall quality management system and customer satisfaction. These employees perform inspections on newly received goods and work-in-process, and are responsible for final inspections of machined aerospace parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering requirements and work instructions. Inspectors are required to document specific information regarding approvals and non-conforming parts and may be involved in problem-solving to identify rework requirements.
Additionally, inspectors may provide quality and/or manufacturing process training for manufacturing personnel.
CMM inspectors typically use a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to probe movement along multiple axes and may also use traditional precision measurement tools (mics, calipers, gauges, etc.).

- Determines and utilizes appropriate inspection methods and instruments (micrometers, height gauges, air gauges, radius gauges, calipers, CMM, etc.) to complete in-process and final inspection of machined aerospace parts and assemblies, including simple to moderate layouts and setups on a surface plate
- Operates CMM to support manufacturing in-process first piece, internal inspection points, and customer-required first article inspection (FAI); completes FAI to AS9102 standards, customer requirements, and company procedures
- Inspects complex machined fixtures and parts using advanced measuring and layout instruments and equipment
- Participates in design reviews on cross-functional teams to ensure that conformance to specifications, inspectability, reliability, and quality system objectives are met; provides technical support for manufacturing operations to ensure part quality
- May assist engineering with the qualification and validation of new or changed tooling or parts
- Interprets drawings featuring Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) to identify product inspection requirements
- Generates inspection reports; analyzes inspection reports to determine adherence to drawings, specifications, and processing procedures;
Initiates nonconformance records and disposition of parts not meeting requirements - Prepare detailed inspection documentation, such as written descriptions of inspection results, including deviations from engineering specifications
- Communicates effectively and professionally with internal and external personnel to identify root causes, troubleshoot and address errors and trends, and negotiate the resolution of non-conforming parts and necessary rework or re-inspection
- Performs other duties as required
- Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required
- A high School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
- An associate degree or similar post-secondary or vocational training in a related field is preferred

- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in inspection for machined parts and/or assemblies is required; aerospace industry experience is preferred. A combination of related experience in manufacturing for aerospace and internal training for inspectors may be considered in place of inspection experience
