WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Field Welder/Machinist position is responsible for applying welding techniques to cut, join,fabricate and repair metal or other weldable materials in support of heavy equipment repairs and services.

The ideal candidate will have experience performing welding and machining tasks in the field, ensuring high‑quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards. This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team in various outdoor and industrial environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform welding operations including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding on‑site as required.
  • Operate machining equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders to fabricate or repair parts in the field.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to complete tasks accurately.
  • Inspect and maintain welding and machining equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform necessary repairs.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Proven experience as a welder and machinist, preferably in a field environment.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick).
  • Experience operating machining tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and best practices in welding and machining.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, TECHNICAL SKILL, & ABILITIES
  • Must develop functional ability in the use of proprietary (i.e. Caterpillar, etc.) software
  • Demonstrate reading blueprint, laying out and building example from blueprint
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating standard honing and boring equipment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating standard horizontal and vertical milling equipment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating standard flame metal spray equipment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating standard surface grinding equipment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in operating standard line boring equipment
