Core Responsibilities
- Preventative Maintenance:
Performing routine checks, cleaning, and lubricating parts (such as ways, screws, and gearboxes) based on maintenance schedules to prevent breakdowns. - Cleaning:
Continually identify and clean areas where the machine fluids are not well contained, either due to regular usage, production changes, or repairs. - Troubleshooting:
Identifying mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or pneumatic failures by observing machines in operation or using diagnostic tools. - Repairs and Replacements:
Disassembling machinery to remove and replace defective components, such as pumps, seals, or sensors. - Installation:
Setting up and aligning new production equipment, including CNC machines, pumps, and cranes. - Fabrication:
Creating or modifying machine parts using welding, machining, or fabrication techniques when replacements are unavailable. - Documentation:
Maintaining accurate logs of all inspections, repairs, and part use, using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Technical Knowledge:
Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. - Troubleshooting:
Strong analytical skills to diagnose root causes of complex equipment failures. - Tool Proficiency:
Expertise with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments like micrometers and calipers.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance is recommended for applicants but not required. - Experience:
2–5 years of hands‑on experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. - Certifications:
Industry‑standard credentials like the Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician (CMRT) or CMRP are highly regarded but not required.
- Settings:
High production aerospace machine shop. - Physical Stamina:
Ability to stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, and lift heavy objects (often up to 50 lbs). - Safety:
Technicians must strictly adhere to OSHA safety standards and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel‑toe boots and safety glasses. - Schedule:
M–F 7:30 - 4:30.
