Location: Collinsville

The Aerospace Painter is responsible for preparing, masking, mixing, and applying coatings to aerospace components and assemblies in accordance with customer specifications, engineering requirements, aerospace industry standards, and company procedures. This position ensures coatings meet quality, thickness, adhesion, appearance, and curing requirements while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare aerospace parts and assemblies for painting by cleaning, sanding, masking, and inspecting surfaces.

Mix primers, topcoats, and specialty coatings per manufacturer technical data sheets and customer specifications.

Apply coatings using spray equipment including HVLP, conventional, pressure pot, or air-assisted systems.

Apply aerospace primers, epoxy coatings, polyurethane topcoats, dry film lubricants, and specialty finishes.

Verify coating thickness using calibrated coating thickness gauges.

Perform visual inspections for defects including runs, sags, orange peel, fisheyes, contamination, insufficient coverage, or overspray.

Maintain required environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, and ventilation during paint application and curing.

Operate and maintain paint booths, curing ovens, spray guns, mixers, and related equipment.

Follow aerospace specifications, work instructions, SDS requirements, and customer requirements.

Complete production records, batch records, inspection documentation, and traceability paperwork accurately.

Support rework, touch-up, stripping, and repair when required .

Maintain compliance with NADCAP, AS9100, OSHA, EPA, and company quality requirements.

Maintain a clean and organized work area using standard practices.

Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required .

Minimum 1 year of industrial or aerospace painting experience preferred.

Experience with spray application equipment and coating systems.

Knowledge of paint mixing ratios, viscosity measurement, cure schedules, and surface preparation methods.

Ability to use measuring equipment including dry film thickness gauges.

Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship.
