Pay Rate: $16.00/hr.
Employment Type: Contract - 3 months (Extension possible)
Schedule: Monday-Friday-7:00am-3:30pm (Overtime possible based on production needs)

Overview
Tekberry is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Battery Maintenance Technician I to support battery production and refurbishment operations. This position reports to the Supervisor, Battery Maintenance and plays a key role in maintaining, testing, refurbishing, and restoring battery systems for operational reuse.
This is a hands-on technical role within a manufacturing environment - not an office-based position. The technician will work directly with battery systems, electrical components, and related equipment to ensure performance, safety, and quality standards are met.

Position Summary
The Battery Maintenance Technician I performs disassembly, de-energizing, cleaning, inspection, repair, reassembly, and re-energization of battery systems and packaging. The role supports testing, diagnostics, fluid handling, component replacement, and database documentation within a structured production environment.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, comfortable using hand and power tools, and capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities:
Battery Maintenance & Repair
- Learn and apply battery maintenance principles and best practices
- Assist with disassembling battery packs using hand and power tools
- Perform battery de-energization and re-energization procedures
- Inspect batteries for defective parts, wiring issues, and component wear
- Replace faulty components, fuses, and related parts
- Support repair and refurbishment of vehicle batteries for reuse
- Use electrical test equipment to verify battery functionality
- Perform basic diagnostics to identify battery failures
- Inspect and test electrical connections, components, and wiring
- Test fluid conditions and remove battery fluids when required
- Ensure proper mixing and containment of battery fluids
- Follow company quality management procedures
- Ensure all battery work meets established quality standards
- Maintain timely and accurate updates in the Alfred CMMS database
- Record maintenance and production data to support equipment reliability
- Sort battery-related materials
- Package and prepare battery components for shipment
- Support safe storage and handling practices
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and PPE requirements
- Maintain clean and organized work areas
- Comply with all operational and environmental safety standards
- High School Diploma or GED
- Up to 2 years of experience in a related technical or mechanical field
- Strong knowledge of hand and power tools
- Basic computer skills (data entry, email communication, database updates)
- Ability to read and follow written operating instructions
- Strong attention to detail and quality focus
- Commitment to workplace safety
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
- Degree or certification in automotive, technical, or related discipline
- Experience in EV battery, automotive, or electrical repair environments
- Exposure to manufacturing or refurbishment operations
Standard Production Areas:
- Lift up to 50 pounds individually
- Constant standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and stooping
- Good hand/finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Required PPE: safety glasses, safety vest, hearing protection, safety footwear
- Lift up to 65 pounds individually
- Lift up to 137 pounds with team assistance
- Constant sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and stooping
