Overview
Sofidel America of Inola, OK is currently seeking a Pulp Feeding Operator in the Paper Mill Department. We are looking for a local candidate ready to commit to a long‑term position in a stable environment. Your expertise will be an important part of our team.
Schedule2‑2‑3 rotating schedule, 12‑hour shifts from 6 AM to 6 PM.
ScopeAssist the paper machine leader and shift supervisor to ensure a safe, efficient, and productive operation of the paper mill. Identify and resolve operational and equipment issues within established policies, and support Sofidel’s Employee Personal Practice Policy.
Essential Functions- Support Sofidel America’s Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP to promote a safe, sanitary and hygienically sound workplace.
- Follow written and verbal instructions as well as the production schedule.
- Manage the addition of baled and converting broke to the pulping systems, including filling pulp lanes, inspecting pulp, and removing bale wire.
- Add prescribed amounts of chemicals to the converting broke pulper to break down wet strength.
- Perform first‑level maintenance on pulping systems as needed.
- Operate forklift to move and process purchased pulp bales, converting broke bales, cut reels, and chemicals; may also perform forklift duties as directed by the Paper Machine Leader.
- Assist with housekeeping duties and maintain the cleanliness of the facility.
- Learn and receive qualification for the next job in the line of progression on the machine.
- Manage the receipt of full propane tanks and return of empties, ensuring the propane storage area is maintained in good condition.
- Perform or assist with any operations required to maintain workflow and meet schedules and quality requirements; notify supervision of equipment or operational problems and the need for additional material.
- Maintain a safe work area and comply with all safety procedures and equipment operating rules.
- Participate in meetings and work groups to communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain knowledge of new developments, policies, and regulations.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Clamp truck, hoist, wrapper, hand tools, test devices, and computerized machine controls.
Education & ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED; or 1–3 years of related experience and/or training.
Language AbilityAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and quality and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Math AbilityAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Certificates and LicensesLift certification and overhead crane training.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the plant and warehouse areas: safety shoes, eye and ear protection, reflective vests, hairnets or hats, and any other necessary protection. Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can vary significantly. The employee will be exposed to paper dust and noise levels that require hearing protection.
