Blue Worx is seeking an experienced Materials Handler to support manufacturing operations in Okarche. This role plays a critical part in maintaining material flow, supporting production readiness, and ensuring inventory accuracy in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Ideal candidates are organized, safety-minded, and comfortable coordinating materials between receiving, storage, and production areas.
Position OverviewThe Materials Handler is responsible for transporting, storing, and tracking raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the facility. This role ensures production lines remain supplied, inventory remains accurate, and shipping and receiving operations run efficiently.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaterial Handling & Storage
- Transport raw materials, components, maintenance supplies, and finished goods using forklifts or pallet jacks
- Stage and store materials in designated areas following FIFO and labeling requirements
- Process returned goods and scrap materials according to plant procedures
- Receive incoming materials and verify purchase orders and packing slips
- Track materials using inventory systems or manual logs
- Assist with cycle counts and physical inventory audits
- Maintain accurate labeling and traceability of materials
- Review shipment documentation for completeness and accuracy
- Prepare outbound shipments including packaging, labeling, and documentation
- Support expedited shipping requests to meet production needs
- Deliver materials to production areas based on work orders or pull signals
- Monitor material usage and communicate shortages or overages
- Coordinate with planning and production teams to maintain workflow readiness
- Follow all plant safety procedures and wear required PPE
- Report hazards, equipment issues, or near-misses immediately
- Maintain clean staging areas and aisles
- Remove scrap and packaging debris promptly
- Identify and resolve material discrepancies and labeling issues
- Communicate material flow concerns with supervisors and planning teams
- Escalate unresolved issues to prevent production downtime
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2 years of materials handling, warehouse, or logistics experience required
- Forklift experience required (certification preferred)
- Experience with ERP or inventory systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods (8–10 hours)
- Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments
- Comfortable working around noise, dust, and varying temperatures
- Must wear required PPE including safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes
- Strong hand-eye coordination for handling materials and equipment
