Schedule
: 4 days on / 4 days off – Rotating including holidays.

Hours
: 6:30 am through 4:30 pm. Start and end times may vary. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

Starting Pay
: $18.00 per hour plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

Summary

Attends to and cares for hens and roosters. Inspects eggs to ascertain quality and fitness for incubation by performing the below duties.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Weigh proper amounts of feed for up to 10 hoppers with up to 100 pounds in each hopper, monitors water consumption and weighs birds that weigh up to 15 pounds each according to schedules (10%).
  • Cleans waterers and walls, sweeps (scrape floors if needed), maintains egg room in a clean state and performs other routine housekeeping duties (10%).
  • Records information according to instructions such as egg numbers, line & source on the egg, bird weight, medications, feed intake, and mortality (10%).
  • Inspects poultry for diseases and euthanizes selected or weak/ ill, per approved company policy; removes dead poultry from flock upon discovery. (10%).
  • Collects eggs from individual hens and legibly records hen number on each egg and hen production card. Uses scanners to record egg collection data for each hen. Pulls down eggs to prevent breakage. Handles flats of eggs that average 10 pounds per flat and moves/lifts 40 pounds egg crates. (40%).
  • Monitors and adjusts illumination, temperature, and ventilation systems per instruction; sanitizes breakroom and vehicles. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice (20%).
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements
  • Jobsite is a biosecure environment requiring showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company.
  • No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical  and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing.
  • Must sign an agreement to avoid avian species and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands And Work Environment
  • Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly stoop/bend down to bottom cage (≈2’) and reach top cage (≈5’) to collect eggs up to 1,000 times per shift and weigh individual birds.
  • Must regularly lift above shoulder level and/or move and step on/off ladders, up to 30 pounds to move items such as feed buckets.
  • Must be able to hang and pull-down male feed cups. Regularly stands, walks, sits, uses hands, reaches, balances, uses ladder, talks, drives vehicle within farm complex.
  • Requires good vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, focus adjustment.
  • Environment: wet, slippery surfaces and hot, dry, dusty, wet, icy, snowy and cold conditions.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: safety goggles, glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, company-issued footwear, ear plugs as required.
  • Chemicals used: disinfectants such as Synergize, Virocid, Lysol, bleach, Clorox wipes, hand sanitizer.
  • Must follow safety policies:
    Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO, PPE; identify and mitigate risks.
Qualifications
  • Must have at least 12 months of consecutive work history with one employer and no additional job gaps in employment greater than 6 months in the past 36 months.
  • If laid off or providing child/elder care, employment gap will be increased to 18 months.
  • Full-time student status for last 36 months disqualifies previous work history.
  • Prior agricultural or production experience preferred.
  • Must reside in the United States.
Rehire Criteria
  • Minimum waiting period of 180 days.
  • No more than 3 previous work periods at Cobb/Tyson Foods.
