Operations Maintenance Coordinator (OMC) – Power

Valliant, OK

Salary Range: $93,400 - $124,500

The ECR area includes three primary boilers for steam generation (Recovery, Power, Bark), a turbine generator, evaporators, a recaust plant, and a wastewater treatment system supporting the production of over 5,000 tons per day of container board.

A large mill with three paper machines, three continuous digesters, and three secondary fiber plants operates with 300 mill employees and 150 contract maintenance employees in a results‑oriented environment. The objective of this position is to reduce costs and increase productivity by continuously improving the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance work execution through prioritization, planning, scheduling, and improvement of the MWS process.

Responsibilities

(include but are not limited to)
  • Assure a safe and highly motivated workforce by demonstrating leadership in safety and engagement.
  • Champion Area Manufacturing Work System (MWS) execution, deliberate improvement efforts, and standardization.
  • Coordinate tasks between maintenance and operations to ensure proper planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Facilitate MWS meetings and ensure the daily MWS agenda is strictly followed.
  • Lead weekly MWS scheduling meetings to review and prioritize work requests for routine and shutdown work.
  • Improve maintenance efficiency by communicating and posting next week’s schedule before the end of the current week, buffering break‑in work, and prioritizing planning and scheduling priorities.
  • Coordinate process preparation for maintenance to ensure efficient use of resources, including system shutdown, isolation, preparation (area clean‑up), system LOTOs, and work permitting.
  • Ensure all lockouts are verified within the last year by knowledgeable operators and maintain lockout accuracy.
  • Improve mill reliability through disciplined application of the MWS principles, focusing on planning and scheduling quality and recording of work history.
  • Assist in managing the business unit area maintenance budget by controlling overtime and maintenance spending.
  • Ensure maintenance resources are efficiently utilized and properly maintain and prioritize the business unit area backlog.
  • Assist the Annual Outage Coordinator with planning efforts for major annual outages and with outage MS Project schedules.
  • Ensure all outage planning tasks follow the T-minus corporate outage planning standard, completing post‑outage activities such as critiques.
  • Assist in area physical assessment improvements and maintain 5S standards in maintenance and operating areas.
  • Update the mill on all required monthly GMS report outs such as RCFA status and PM compliance.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    Prefer an engineer with 3+ years’ experience in the paper industry; non‑degreed candidates may be considered with sufficient experience and demonstrated abilities.
  • Experience:

    At least 3 years of maintenance, engineering, or production experience in a manufacturing environment; excellent computer skills, with mastery of Microsoft Project, SAP‑PM, and Excel.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills combined with technical knowledge and operations experience in pulp and paper manufacturing processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with proven ability to coach, educate, and motivate.
  • Understanding and commitment to high‑performance work system concepts and change management.
  • Strong work ethic and active participation in safety, problem solving, and team activities.
