The Thompson Creek Mine is a primary, surface molybdenum mine and mill located approximately 48 kilometres southwest of the town of Challis in Idaho's Custer County. In operations since 1983, the mine uses conventional open‑pit mining methods with large electric‑powered shovels that can each move up to 100,000 tons of waste rock and ore per day. Thompson Creek Mine promotes a drug and alcohol‑free workplace and has adopted a zero‑tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.
Aboutthe Opportunity
We are looking for a Supervisor, Mill Maintenance to join our Thompson Creek team. In this role you will supervise and coordinate the activities of hourly employees engaged in assembling, disassembling, troubleshooting, installing, repairing, modifying, and maintaining mill, tailings, outlying area pumps, crushing equipment and machinery to manufacturer and/or Company specifications.
Responsibilities- Direct activities of subordinates assigned to all phases of maintaining the machinery and equipment used in the milling process. Ensure availability of applicable training opportunities. Assist in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment. Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to subordinates and assign duties. Requisition and keep a supply of spare parts.
- Inspect work area to ensure specific work environment safety standards are being met. Investigate irregularities, upsets, and accidents; recommend procedures and methods to improve production capabilities, equipment performance, product quality and employee safety. Coordinate maintenance activities with production department.
- Interpret and ensure compliance with Company policies and enforce safety regulations. Address employee concerns and issues. Initiate or suggest plans to motivate mill maintenance technicians to achieve work goals. Address employee inappropriate behavior issues. Ensure adherence to standard operational procedures and work practices related to quality, quantity, safety, and efficiency.
- Maintain employee time and maintenance records. Ensure that reports, work orders, requisitions, logs, and other work‑related documents are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must possess excellent leadership, interpersonal, communication (written and oral) and organizational skills and be knowledgeable of and proficient in related computer applications.
- Must have ability to prioritize assignments and make well‑rounded timely decisions.
- Must have knowledge and understanding of safe and efficient mill and crushing maintenance practices, procedures, and regulations.
- Associate degree in related field; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous supervisory experience highly desirable.
