About the PositionJoin our caring team of pediatric nurses. The Private Duty Pediatric Nurse furnishes services in accordance with agency policies, prepares clinical and progress notes, assists the physician and registered nurse with specialized procedures, prepares equipment and materials for treatments observing aseptic technique as required, and assists the patient in learning appropriate self-care techniques.
Required- Current LPN or RN license through the board of nursing in the state of practice
- Positive attitude and good organizational skills
- Self-directed with the ability to work with little supervision
- Flexible and cooperative in fulfilling role obligations
- Compliance with accepted professional standards and practice
- Good physical stamina and mental health
- Licensed driver with an insured automobile in good working order
- At least one year of pediatric nursing experience
- Community/home health or medical/surgical experience
- Provide safe home health services to patients and families
- Implement plan of care initiated by the RN Clinical Supervisor in collaboration with the physician
- Assist the RN or physician in carrying out the plan of care
- Develop, prepare, and maintain patient care documentation consistent with the plan of care, and submit accurate documentation
- Provide patient, client, and family education and information pertinent to diagnosis and plan of care
- Document communication and patient condition, addressing problems identified during ongoing assessment
- Assist the patient and families in learning home nursing procedures, self-care techniques, and other care needs as appropriate
- Administer medication, diet and other instructions directed by the RN and ordered by the physician
- Use equipment and supplies effectively and efficiently
- Participate in personal professional growth and development and keep current in nursing trends and knowledge
- Participate in in-service programs and quality improvement program of the agency
- Participate in public relations and community activities that promote the agency’s role as an effective member of the health care delivery system
