JOB PURPOSE:

Provides direct and indirect patient care services that meet the psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care; meets the communication needs of patient and family; provides care that reflects initiative and responsibility indicative of professional expectations, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Any position that has direct patient care is considered to be safety sensitive by AVEM Health Partners standards.

ESSENTIAL

FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Responds quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
  • Responsible for fostering a positive work environment.
  • Assesses patients’ needs based on medical history, risk factors, complaint, need for care, etc. Classifies the urgency of symptoms and notifies appropriate personnel.
  • Collects samples from patients including blood, urine, stool, and sputum. Prepares samples for analysis or shipment.
  • Performs nursing care per qualifications, based on the plan of care, following established policies, procedures and/or protocol.
  • Actively participates in the planning and implementation of patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
  • Delegates appropriately according to scope of practice and educational preparation; adhering to the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act and “5 Rights of Delegation”.
  • Administers medications as stipulated by the policies and procedures of the facility.
  • Communicates with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Ensures that required documentation is complete and in compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Observes signs and symptoms and reports to the physician and/or other appropriate health professionals as often as needed, changes in the patient condition.
  • Responsible for keeping current in nursing trends and evidence-based practice; participates in required in-service programs.
  • Ensure all safety and infection control practices are followed.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.

  • Adhere to the Avem Health Partners Code of Conduct and Standards of Behavior. Complies with established policies and procedures and all health and safety requirements.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
  • Graduate of an approved Nursing Program.
  • Current LPN license issued by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
  • Current BLS (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • Current ACLS preferred.
EXPERIENCE:

Two (2) years of clinical experience preferred.
