Holdenville General Hospital is searching for a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) who is dedicated to providing exceptional, compassionate care to our patients. Position Summary

The CNA provides direct patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Med/Surg Department. This position assists with daily living activities, maintains a safe and clean environment, and ensures patients receive respectful, attentive, and quality care. This position will be for both med/surg and for the ER. Applicant will be expected to also perform light registration and clerical duties in addition to patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Turn or reposition bedridden patients.
  • Provide physical support to assist patients to perform daily living activities, such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, using the toilet, standing, walking, or exercising.
  • Review patients' dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences to ensure patient receives appropriate diet.
  • Measure and record food and liquid intake or urinary and fecal output, reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.
  • Record vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration rate, as directed by medical or nursing staff per policy.
  • Answer patient call signals, signal lights, bells, or intercom systems to determine patients' needs.
  • Gather information from caregivers, nurses, or physicians about patient condition, treatment plans, or appropriate activities.
  • Observe or examine patients to detect symptoms that may require medical attention, such as bruises, open wounds, or blood in urine.
  • Document or otherwise report observations of patient behavior, complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses.
  • Prepare or serve food trays; feed patients or assist patients to eat or drink.
  • Supply, collect, or empty bedpans.
  • Undress, wash, and dress patients who are unable to do so for themselves.
  • Lift or assist others to lift patients to move them on or off beds, examination tables, surgical tables, or stretchers.
  • Communicate with patients to ascertain feelings or need for assistance or social and emotional support.
  • Clean and sanitize patient rooms, bathrooms, examination rooms, or other patient areas.
  • Record height or weight of patients.
  • Collect specimens, such as urine, feces, or sputum.
  • Apply clean dressings, slings, stockings, or support bandages, under direction of nurse or physician.
  • Change bed linens or make beds.
  • Restock patient rooms with personal hygiene items, such as towels, washcloths, soap, or toilet paper.
  • Move and arrange furniture and turn mattresses.
  • Register patients as they present to the ER.
  • Take patients to room and enter into Medhost.
  • Quick register the patient into HMS.
  • After nurse has seen the patient, obtain information, sign consents and put on the identification bracelets.
  • Greet patients and visitors.
  • Answer phones.
  • Collect and document FSBS; notify nurse of result.
  • Maintain BLS; assist with chest compressions during code.
  • Collect and document results of flu, rapid strep and RSV tests; notify nurse/provider/lab.
  • Check supplies in patient rooms and maintain stock check for expiration date; remove and replace expired items and turn stock over to manager/central supply.
Qualifications
  • Current Oklahoma CNA certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
  • Previous hospital or Med/Surg experience preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills
  • Compassionate, dependable, and committed to quality patient care

Must be able to pass a background check and complete a pre‑employment drug test with a negative result.
