Job Purpose

Provides professional nursing care for the comfort and well-being of patients. Administers prescribed medications, changes dressings, cleans wounds, and monitors patient vital signs. Observes and maintains records on patient care, condition, reaction, and progress. Notifies House Supervisor and physician of patient’s change of condition. Provides nursing care in various clinical services. Any position that has direct patient care is considered to be safety sensitive by Avem Health Partners standards.

Essential

Functions
  • Contribute to the assessment of the patient.
  • Participate in the development and modification of the plan of care.
  • Implement the appropriate aspects of the patient plan of care.
  • Delegate tasks safely to others, consistent with educational preparation and the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.
  • Provide safe and effective nursing care rendered directly or indirectly.
  • Administer medications as stipulated by the facility’s policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Ensure required documentation is complete and compliant with regulations and standards.
  • Evaluate and regularly re‑evaluate the nursing needs of the client; initiate, develop, implement and revise the client’s plan of care as necessary.
  • Observe signs and symptoms and report to the physician and/or other appropriate health professionals as needed.
  • Keep current in nursing trends and knowledge; participate in in‑service programs as required.
  • Provide clinical supervision to CNAs and LPNs.
  • Ensure all safety and infection control practices are followed.
  • Distribute and document medications (including narcotics) according to established standards and regulations.
  • Respond to emergency situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and patient information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.

Education, Certification, and Licensure
  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Current RN license issued by the State of Oklahoma Board of Nursing.
  • Current BLS certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
  • Current ACLS certification (or obtained within 30 days of hire).
Experience

Two (2) years of clinical experience preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Constant standing and walking required.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, lifting, tugging, and reaching required.
  • Have physical strength and agility to position patients for various examinations and procedures.
  • Require visual and auditory abilities to perform duties.

  • HRSA
    - Nurse Corps eligible.
