Overview
Norman Regional Health System’s Progressive Cardiac Care Unit (PCCU) provides specialized high‑acuity care to patients with cardiac conditions, both pre‑ and post‑procedure. The unit treats patients undergoing a wide range of cardiac procedures—including coronary artery bypass grafting, cardiac catheterization, pacemaker and Micra‑pacemaker insertions, and cardiac ablation—as well as many other cardiac diagnoses.
Compensation & Benefits$31.31–$51.14 per hour based on prior experience, plus evening differential $2.50, night differential $3.00, weekend differential $3.00. Responsibilities- Assessment and reassessment:
Systematically assess and reassess the health‑care needs of patients. - Nursing diagnosis and outcomes:
Analyze assessment to determine diagnosis and expected outcomes with patient, family and other providers. - Implementation and coordination of care:
Provide nursing care through interventions to achieve goals using professional judgment based on evidence‑based practice, regulations and policy. - Evaluation:
Evaluate patient outcomes using critical thinking and evidence‑based knowledge. - Professional practice:
Serve as a department leader alongside and in the absence of the Nurse Manager. - Maintain ACLS certification.
- Oversee and promote bedside handoff at shift changes.
Education
:
Diploma or Associate – degree (ADN) required;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
Experience
:
Preferred one year as a registered nurse; combined education and experience may satisfy the minimum.
- Current Oklahoma registered nurse license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training required during orientation; maintenance needed throughout employment.
- Registered nurses with less than one year experience must complete Norman Regional’s Nurse Residency Program.
