Job Summary
Licensed Practical Nurse – Agency – Department of Corrections (DOC) Medical/AGCC.
Full/Part‑Time:
Full time. Regular Compensation Level I: $54,080.00, Level II: $62,400.00.
Perform technical direct and indirect nursing care in a clinic, hospital, institution, or home setting under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, or dentist.
Typical Functions- Perform nursing procedures or specialized functions in accordance with knowledge, skills, and licensure.
- Participate in the evaluation of responses to interventions.
- Teach basic nursing skills and related principles.
- Delegate nursing care tasks such as taking temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, giving enemas, douches, sitz baths, collecting specimens, and measuring intake and output.
- Assist in assessing, reporting, and recording health status of patients, families, and groups in a variety of settings.
- Participate in developing and implementing appropriate aspects of a plan of care.
- Administer medications as ordered.
- Report appropriate patient information to supervisor or appropriate health team member.
- Serve as Charge Nurse on a unit, supervising staff performing medication administration and patient care.
Perform routine entry‑level tasks under close professional supervision and in a training status to build skills in providing nursing care as a licensed practical nurse.
Level II – CareerPerform a full range of nursing assignments as a Licensed Practical Nurse and provide care at the full performance level. Provide guidance and training to others in completing routine nursing tasks and activities.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies- Knowledge of nursing techniques, procedures, practices, and theory; of medical terminology; and of infection control measures.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and to follow detailed oral or written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to provide nursing care to patients or clients.
Possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing; or a Licensed Practical Nurse license recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
Level IIPossession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a licensed practical nurse approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing plus one year of practical nursing experience; or a Licensed Practical Nurse license recognized by the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) plus one year of practical nursing experience.
Special Requirements- Willing and able to fulfill all job‑related travel normally associated with the position.
- Willing and able to work any assigned shift or day of the week, and additional shifts as required.
- Positions in this job family have been determined to be safety sensitive as defined by 63O.S.§427.8.
