Location: Dickson
Overview
RN-Registered Nurse — Labor and Delivery at Tristar Horizon Medical Center, Dickson, TN. Position details include day shift (12 hours/day, 3 days/week) with compensation terms noted in the original listing. Onsite contract starts 8/17/2026 for 13 weeks.
Responsibilities- Provide labor and delivery nursing care for patients from admission through postpartum recovery and newborn transition.
- Labor and delivery assessment, monitor fetal status, assist with labor and delivery (including shoulder dystocia, PP hemorrhage, and other OB emergencies).
- Monitor and document patient status; participate in postpartum and neonatal care as appropriate.
- Assist with operating room procedures as applicable (e.g., C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, vacuum or forceps deliveries).
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes; perform SAFETY and daily rounds per unit policy.
- Must have charge experience and the ability to labor, recover the mother, and transition the newborn including assessment.
- Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other OB emergencies preferred.
- Advanced skills: fetal monitoring education; experience with inductions (Pitocin, cervidil).
- Certifications:
BLS
, NRP
, and Fetal Monitoring training

- Unit:
Women’s Services (LDRP: 9 LDRP beds, OBED 1 bed, NICU 4 beds; 1 OR suite). - Patient ratios: 1:1 active labor, inductions, C-sections, and couplet care; newborns 1:1 until stable; NICU 1:3 intermediate care (2 NICU nurses required if NICU is staffed).
- Equipment: CPN Central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, tele-med robot for neonatologist, bili-blankets, PCA pumps.
- Documentation:
Meditech and CPN. - Scheduling: FT 3 shifts per week; rotating weekends and holidays. PRN shifts available.
- Floating: regular staff may float anywhere within the facility as needed; some staff cross-trained between LDRP & NICU.
- Patient experience requirements: daily rounding on all patients; safety rounding.
- Certifications:
Joint Commission, Stroke Center, Level II Trauma, Level II NICU. - Dress Code:
Pink and/or brown scrubs per unit policy. - Policies and procedures are available in Policy Stat; unit-specific policies recommended for attachment.
