Responsibilities- Provide each of your assigned patients with routine daily nursing care and services in accordance with the patient's assessment and care plan, and as directed by your supervisor.
- Perform tasks involving patient assessment, basic hygiene, assisting with eating, bathing, dressing, and ambulation.
- Collect and document vital signs, personal care notes, and other required patient information.
- Non‑exempt status.
- May be required to work beyond normal working hours, including weekends and holidays, when necessary.
- Subject to callback during any emergency.
- Reports to Charge Nurse.
- A high school diploma or its equivalent preferred.
- CNA Diploma from an accredited CNA Program required and verified by a primary source of verification.
- Certified Nursing Assistant in accordance with state laws.
- BLS certification preferred but not required.
- Lift up to 10lbs.:
Occasionally required to lift medical charts, supplies, and patients' personal items. - Lift 11–25lbs.:
Occasionally required for lifting soiled bed linens. - Lift 26–40lbs.:
Occasionally to frequently required for assisting an ambulatory patient in bathing or dressing. - Lift over 40lbs.:
Frequently required when transferring a non‑ambulatory patient weighing between 100 and 160pounds; typically assisted by two aides for unusually heavy or combative patients. - Carry up to 10lbs.:
Occasionally required similar to lift. - Carry 11–25lbs.:
Occasionally required when lifting soiled bed linens and carrying to the utility area. - Carry 26–40lbs.:
Occasionally to frequently required when assisting an ambulatory patient in bathing or dressing. - Carry over 40lbs.:
Occasionally to frequently required when transferring a non‑ambulatory patient weighing between 100 and 160pounds; typically assisted by two aides. - Reach above shoulder height: 4ft. and reach at shoulder height frequently while assisting patients in eating, changing bed linens, and taking vital signs.
- Reach below shoulder height:
Occasionally while assisting patients with peri‑care and bathing. - Push/Pull: 20ft. with hand manipulation for grasping, fingering, and handling.
- Work surface:
Varies from carpeting, linoleum, and tile; when seated, typically an office‑type chair. - During an 8‑hour day:
Sit 1hr, stand 3hrs, walk 3–4hrs.
- Blood pressure gauge, thermometer, and other standard clinical equipment.
- May involve potential or direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious disease, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
- May be subject to hostile or emotionally upset patients, family members, associates, and visitors.
- Requires being on feet continuously throughout the day.
- Full‑time, nonrestrictive basis: must lift at least 40lbs. when transferring a patient from a bed to a wheelchair; a transfer belt is required.
- Other nurses available to assist with heavier patients as needed.
