Seasonal Interpretative Guide – Sequoyah State Park Agency

Job Posting:
Department of Tourism and Recreation – Sequoyah Lodge. Position type:
Part time, Seasonal (Fixed Term). Compensation: $12.00 per hour.

Basic Purpose

Interpretative Guides facilitate educational programming, serve as guides for areas of interest within a state park or other tourism location, and maintain facility standards. This role requires a strong commitment to customer service, and physical labor in both indoor and outdoor environments. This is a seasonal, part-time, entry-level position.

Job Duties
  • Lead guided hikes or other outdoor activities.
  • Deliver educational programming.
  • Plan and lead arts and crafts activities.
  • Perform trail and animal enclosure upkeep, including repairs and cleaning.
  • Assist with routine groundskeeping and facility organization around the Nature Center.
  • Greet and assist visitors with professionalism and courtesy.
  • Engage with guests in informed interpretation.
  • Assist in event setup and takedown.
  • Complete daily opening and closing duties for the Nature Center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support daily operations and agency needs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Physical requirements:

    able to lead walking tours and navigate trails, regular bending, stooping, and carrying items up to 50 lbs.; ability to work in various weather conditions.
Special Requirements

Scheduled hours will require flexibility, including holidays, weekends, or events, based on the needs of the agency. Some locations will require a valid Driver’s License.
