Job Summary:
The Greenhouse Technician reports to the Grounds Supervisor and is responsible for the care, maintenance, and presentation of campus greenhouses, flowerbeds, and ornamental plantings. This position supports SWOSU's commitment to a visually appealing and well-maintained campus environment. The attendant serves as a resource to the Physical Plant Department and builds effective working relationships to enhance departmental operations and functions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide support services to the department in a manner that professionally, cordially, and efficiently assists students, faculty, staff, and visitors
- Perform duties associated with greenhouse and flowerbed maintenance, including planting, watering, pruning, fertilizing, weeding, and general plant care
- Monitor plant health and assist with pest, disease, and environmental control measures under supervision
- Assist with the care, cleaning, and proper use of greenhouse and grounds-related equipment and tools
- Prepare, maintain, and renovate flowerbeds, planters, shrubs, and ground cover areas
- Assist in other areas as requested based on departmental needs
Specific assignments are based on unit needs and assigned by the supervisor and may include tasks such as reading and following product labels, assisting with seasonal displays, supporting campus events, helping with debris, snow, and ice removal, and using a variety of tools and equipment associated with greenhouse and flowerbed maintenance.

- Minimum Requirements:
Basic Reading and Mathematical skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous landscaping and horticultural experience
