Quality Control Supervisor

Responsible for overseeing the Quality Control Department in all aspects, including supervisory, quality, maintenance, accountability, and more. Tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process, compiles and evaluates statistical data to maintain the quality and reliability of products.

Responsibilities
  • Supervisor will be on the floor providing supervision and working with material/product 80% of the time, 20% office duty.
  • Maintain department housekeeping.
  • Training of all quality inspectors.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.
  • Create a positive team atmosphere within the department.
  • Provide leadership by example to the departmental team.
  • Plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems as assigned by the Quality Manager.
  • Carry out inspection and test activities in accordance with established quality plans, engineering specifications, and procedures to determine the specified requirements for the product have been met.
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspection and/or testing of materials and products to determine compliance.
  • Record the results, which provide evidence that the product has been inspected and/or tested.
  • These records should show clearly whether the product has passed or failed in accordance with established criteria.
  • Handle any nonconforming product in accordance with established work instructions and other quality system procedures.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Have working knowledge of all industry welding codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of nondestructive examinations and powder coating.
  • Use a variety of precision and non‑precision inspection and test equipment.
  • Interface with manufacturing and engineering personnel and provide support in interpreting and defining product quality criteria.
  • May also operate overhead or jib crane.
  • Show regular attendance, punctuality, on‑site work ability, and willingness to work overtime.
  • Work cooperatively with others, dealing respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, other employees, managers, and executive management.
  • Perform multiple tasks concurrently in a fast‑paced environment, interchanging with others in the department as needed.
  • Maintain a safety‑incident‑free department.
  • Perform assigned work in accordance with productivity standards.
  • Monitor and maintain established metrics, including delivery accuracy, safety, and inventory accuracy.
  • Correctly identify and segregate non‑compliant material.
  • Create and submit cost‑reduction ideas.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with all safety standards.
  • Perform duties with little supervision, being accountable for safe working conditions of their work area.
Requirements
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, and procedure manuals in English.
  • Write simple correspondence in English.
  • Present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Compute percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions, addressing problems with several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum five (5) years as a Quality Control Supervisor.
  • Experience with calibration of inspection and test equipment preferred.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001 environment preferred.
  • Non‑destructive testing certification preferred.
