Quality Manager – Amcor

The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, improving, implementing, monitoring and maintaining quality systems and supporting processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for the industries served. They provide technical leadership within the Quality discipline, driving adherence to systems and maintaining high levels of customer focus.

Key Responsibilities
  • Puts safety first in all responsibilities, including awareness and adherence to corporate and site environmental, health, and safety policies.
  • Active member of the plant leadership team.
  • Serves as the “Management Representative” for audits and other related customer and internal quality inquiries.
  • Provides leadership to the quality team, with flexibility to support a 24/7 manufacturing facility.
  • Manages Amcor Plant Quality System and maintains registration to chosen quality standards.
  • Leads supplier, internal and customer‑related quality activities, serving as a technical resource in food safety and company quality programs.
  • Ensures that food safety and quality systems satisfy and meet all customer specifications, internal and regulatory requirements (ISO, GMP, FDA, Food Safety, Medical, etc.).
  • Oversees accurate and timely testing of raw materials, in‑process and finished products, and manages the collection, analysis and distribution of testing data.
  • Serves as a technical resource and liaison between the department and operations to address and resolve inquiries and problems.
  • Oversees maintenance of the lab and related test equipment, including calibration, repair, servicing, ordering supplies and training personnel as needed.
  • Manages customer complaint program, responding to complaints in a timely manner and participating in formulation of corrective measures.
  • Oversees compliance to corporate quality procedures, including prerequisites, HACCP, GMP and food safety, revising procedures as necessary.
  • Works closely with Operations, Technical and R&D on the introduction of new products and processes.
  • Manages nonconformities and CAPA system, reviewing in‑process quality failures and determining disposition of nonconforming materials.
  • Corresponds with customers and suppliers to resolve problems; leads root cause investigations through effective long‑term resolutions.
  • Instructs plant co‑workers and encourages use of problem‑solving and root‑cause analysis tools, leading by example.
  • Develops and implements appropriate in‑process quality inspection plans using effective, cost‑conscious methods.
  • Establishes a culture of continuous improvement in Quality.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant working experience and training in Quality in a manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands‑on experience in implementing and maintaining quality system and food safety system standards.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge of the packaging industry (desirable).
  • Knowledge of Quality System Software and Quality Engineering tools.
  • In‑depth knowledge of regulatory requirements for Medical, Pharmaceutical and Food packaging products.
  • Knowledge of HACCP/FSSC 22000/SQF/BRC/IMS, ISO 13485/9001.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in science or engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Formal training in problem‑solving techniques, coaching, facilitating, project management, and team dynamics preferred.
