On-Call Cook

Position Summary

The Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and serving fresh menu items in a fast-paced kitchen. This position maintains high standards for food quality, safety, cleanliness, order accuracy, and customer service while supporting the daily setup and operation.

• Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to recipes, portion standards, and presentation guidelines.
• Operate grills, fryers, ovens, and food preparation equipment safely and efficiently.
• Complete orders quickly and accurately during busy service periods.
• Check food temperatures, freshness, and holding times to maintain quality and safety.
• Follow food-handling, sanitation, allergy awareness, and local health department requirements.
• Clean and sanitize workstations, utensils, equipment and storage areas.
• Receive, rotate, store, and restock food and supplies.
• Assist with loading, opening, closing, and event setup procedures.
• Communicate professionally with team members and provide friendly customer service.
• Report inventory shortages, equipment problems, and safety concerns to the supervisor.

• Previous experience in a restaurant, food truck, catering operation, or commercial kitchen is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation, cooking methods, sanitation, and kitchen safety.
• Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and portion-control standards.
• Ability to work quickly, stay organized, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, teamwork, and professional conduct.
• Food handlers permit or food safety certification required where applicable, or ability to obtain one within the required timeframe.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
