Resident Care Specialist – Agency 400 Office of Juvenile Affairs
The Office of Juvenile Affairs is seeking a Resident Care Specialist to provide care, custody, and security for at‑risk youth at the Central Oklahoma Juvenile Center in Tecumseh, Oklahoma. This role involves direct supervision, security, transportation, counseling, and documentation of resident behaviors, all within a 24‑hour facility.
Compensation and Benefits- RCS I: $19.23 per hour
- RCS II: $21.63 per hour
Sign‑On Bonus: $5,000
Continuous Service Bonus: $6,000
- Shift Differential – $2.50 per hour for 2nd or 3rd shift, Monday‑Friday
- Shift Differential – $2.50 per hour for any shift on Saturday or Sunday

Job OverviewAs a Resident Care Specialist, you will provide security and supervision to adjudicated residents, conduct counts, enforce institutional rules, monitor surveillance feeds, offer paraprofessional counseling, facilitate treatment teams, control resident movement, patrol grounds, respond to emergencies, maintain safety logs, handle transportation to court hearings and medical appointments, and assist with GPS monitoring and inventory.
Responsibilities- Provide security and supervision to residents in various activities.
- Perform routine duties related to care, custody, education, and treatment.
- Observe, record, and report health, behavior, and activity of residents.
- Manage aggressive and non‑aggressive behavior through verbal and physical intervention.
- Conduct resident counts and enforce rules and regulations.
- Offer paraprofessional counseling and instructional support.
- Serve as a group leader and participate in treatment teams.
- Inspect living and work areas for safety standards and conduct searches for contraband.
- Maintain security in assigned posts and control resident movement.
- Patrol facility grounds, monitoring activities and movements.
- Maintain logs, write reports, and communicate via radio and telephone.
- Provide safe transport of custody youth to and from external locations.
- Assist with GPS monitoring, inventory, and other transportation duties.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Age 21 or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- For RCS II: completion of at least 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university.
- One year of security experience is acceptable for RCS II.
- Willingness to work any shift and to be on‑call 24/7.
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a background check, fingerprints, and drug screening.
- Must be able to pass a 12‑month safety‑sensitive period; marijuana use disqualifies applicants despite medical licensing.
- 1st Shift: 6:00am – 2:00pm
- 2nd Shift: 2:00pm – 10:00pm
- 3rd Shift: 10:00pm – 6:00am
