Overview
Clean Harbors in Sawyer, ND is seeking an Environmental General Laborer Emergency Response to join our safety conscious team. This role will be active in the field responsible for the performance of tasks associated with hazardous waste clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.
Responsibilities- Engage in hazardous waste clean-up, site remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials in accordance with safety policies.
- Operate light and heavy equipment, handle various hand tools and powered industrial tools, and work with vibration-producing tools.
- Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators and other protection as required.
- Work in various temperatures and weather conditions, and in environments with potential exposure to chemical or physical hazards.
- Work in elevated noise levels, confined spaces, and at heights using ladders and scaffolding.
- Assist in field sampling activities and calibration of meters.
- Inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance; perform safe loading and unloading of waste.
- Follow local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and company guidelines.
- Safely operate vehicles in accordance with applicable requirements, and observe all corporate and environmental health and safety operating guidelines.
- Attend compliance and safety update meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
- By position, be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week, and participate in site remediation activities as assigned.
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to perform physical functions per key responsibilities
- On-call emergency response requirement; occasional weekend/holiday work; emergency responses may extend beyond 8 hours, up to 12–24 hours
- Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, as required
- Per OSHA respiratory protection standard, meet facial hair standards if respirators are required
- Previous relevant labor experience

The posted salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this role. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as location, experience, skills, and business needs.
