Maintenance Journeyman - Instrument

Position Summary

The Maintenance Instrumentation Journeyman is responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of existing instrument and automation systems as well as installation, testing and commissioning of new installations and associated equipment. The Maintenance Journeyman may be responsible for supervising and training other craftsmen and working on various jobs without direct supervision. The Maintenance Journeyman embraces positive change and is committed to advancing their understanding of the Wynnewood refinery systems by a strong work ethic, self-motivation, and training.

The Maintenance Journeyman promotes safety and quality and will support efforts to increase the reliability of this facility.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Associate of Applied Science degree in Instrumentation or related field preferred
• Oklahoma State Journeyman Electrical License preferred
• Journeyman Instrument Technician or an official apprenticeship qualification/certification from a nationally recognized apprenticeship training program preferred
• NCCER Instrumentation Certification preferred

• 3+ years’ industrial instrument experience required
• 5+ years’ experience in a refinery environment preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word preferred
• Working knowledge of electrical one-lines, electrical three-lines, electrical schematics, and electrical prints preferred
• Experience safely working with hazards and using appropriate PPE on voltages up to 600 volts preferred
• Demonstrated basic understanding of electrical and electronic instrumentation operating principles required
• Experience with pressure, level, flow, temperature sensing instruments and experience with final element equipment such as control valves, actuators, and positioners required
• Experience with digital, analog, and pneumatic controls and calibration techniques required
• Working knowledge of P&’s, loop drawings, and cascade loops required
• Direct experience with SCADA/PLC/Pneumatic controlled loops with ability to troubleshoot an array of problems associated with the equipment preferred
• Working knowledge of analyzers:
  Gas Chromatographs, Combustion Analyzers, Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS), and Opacity preferred
• Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems:
  Honeywell preferred
• Familiarity with equipment monitoring: vibration monitors, anti-surge controls preferred
• Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs/HMI’s, Redlion HMI’s, SCADA systems preferred
• Familiarity with Ethernet IP, Mod Bus, RS-485 communications protocols preferred
• Must be able to provide and receive directions from others
• Ability to use a computer for data entry, work order processing, and other minor tasks preferred
• Fluent in English, oral and written required
• Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs

• Perform duties in compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations and industry best practices
• Work with multiple projects and/or issues from a variety of sources
• Provide electrical and instrumentation support to maintain equipment and facilities safely, efficiently, and environmentally sound
• Participate in project planning, including drawing updates, P&t, and cause & effect development
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical, pneumatic, process controls and new equipment as projects dictate
• Use hand and power tools to complete assigned tasks
• Set up, prepare, and inspect the work site at start of project and clean up at end of project
• Study blueprints or manufacturer’s manuals to determine correct installation or operation of equipment
• Communicate regularly with management about work progress, concerns, and questions
• Participate in the preventive maintenance program on all equipment for continuous improvement of all machines
• Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
• Record repairs and maintenance performed
• Work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals
