I&E Operations Technician II,III

Position Overview

Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Operations Technician II/III at Williams focuses on maintaining pipeline systems, troubleshooting instrumentation and electrical equipment, programming controls, and supporting field upgrades and rewiring projects to enhance equipment reliability across the natural gas network.

• Perform complex maintenance and operational tasks on natural gas process equipment and systems.
• Work with Rosemount Transmitters, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), 480V electrical switch gear, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), CAT engines, and Ariel compressors.
• Calibrate and inspect equipment to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment failures, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize unplanned shutdowns.
• Assist in programming and controls‑related tasks and field upgrades.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Support teams, and third‑party contractors.
• Partner with project managers to define scope and instrumentation specifications for new projects.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Required:
  
  High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years as an Operations Technician or similar, including one (1) year as an I&E Technician.
• Preferred:
  Associate’s degree or 2‑year technical degree and a minimum of two (2) years as an Operations Technician in the Oil and Gas Industry.

• Work in extreme temperatures, loud noises, and enclosed spaces.
• Carry or lift up to 50 lbs independently and assist with loads over 50 lbs.
• Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for extended periods.
• Work at elevated levels using man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, or small towers with appropriate PPE.

• Available after hours, on‑call rotations, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• May require overtime, 10–12 hour shifts, and travel with occasional overnight stays.

• Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Basic Microsoft Office and PC skills.
• Experience in gas‑plant operations, gas compression, or liquid/gas gathering processes.
• Mechanical, electrical, and/or maintenance industry experience.
