Job Summary

The Service and Repair Technician is a field‑based service role responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial HVAC systems with a focus on chillers, boilers, and building mechanical equipment. This position requires strong diagnostic skills, customer interaction, and the ability to work independently across multiple commercial and industrial facilities.

This role balances preventative maintenance with emergency service and repair work
—approximately 50% scheduled maintenance and 50% reactive service calls. A successful technician will maintain equipment reliability, minimize downtime for customers, solve complex mechanical problems, and build trust with facility managers and building operators.

The Service Technician diagnoses issues, completes repairs efficiently, communicates clearly with customers, and ensures all work meets safety and quality standards.

Requirements Equipment and Technical Expertise
  • Chillers (air‑cooled, water‑cooled, centrifugal) – strongly preferred
  • Hot Water Boilers – would be anadvantage
  • Rooftop Units (RTUs)
  • Cooling Towers
  • Packaged Air Conditioners
  • Computer Room AC Equipment
  • Air Handling Units / Fan Coil Units
  • Condensers / Chilled Water Pumps
  • Refrigerated Air Dryers
  • Air Compressors
  • Exhaust Fans
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Humidifiers
Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Proven experience servicing commercial HVAC equipment in occupied buildings
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own service schedule
  • Clear communication skills with facility managers, building operators, and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Comfort working in diverse environments (mechanical rooms, rooftops, industrial settings)
  • Self‑motivated with strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
Preferred

Skills and Abilities

– These would greatly enhance your likelihood of being a best‑fit candidate
  • Chiller service experience (strongly preferred) – air‑cooled, water‑cooled, centrifugal
  • Boiler experience (major advantage) – hot water, steam, commercial/industrial applications
  • Familiarity with pumps, cooling towers, air handlers, and related mechanical equipment
  • Background in commercial building service or industrial facilities
Education & Trade Licensing
  • Technical school degree or certificate preferred (HVAC, mechanical systems, building trades)
  • If there is no technical degree, a formalized apprenticeship program is strongly preferred
  • Journeyman’s License required
Physical Requirements – Must be able to regularly perform the following tasks
