Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Field/Service Technician, Installation Technician

Position Summary
Responsible for installation, troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance of instrumentation, SCADA, distributed control system (DCS), PLCs and electrical equipment throughout a PSM regulated cryogenic processing plant. The role ensures safe, reliable operations and supports system integrity in the field working with pump motors, compressors, metering stations, and analyzers. Some measurement experience and experience in operations is a plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Install, configure, test, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrument, transmitters, sensors, valves, and control systems.
- Service SCADA, PLC, RTU, VFD, MCC, DCS, and other critical instrumentation, including safety shutdown systems and gas detection analyzers.
- Interpret and work from P&, electrical schematics, as-builts, and technical specifications.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections, repairs, and documentation in the CMMS or equivalent system.
- Collaborate in emergency response efforts involving system malfunctions, leaks, or safety events.
- Drive company vehicle to various field locations, performing equipment checks and servicing remote stations.
- Assist with part requisitions, equipment ordering, and maintenance reporting.
- Assist plant and pipeline operators and mechanics with PMs and job tasks.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical schooling, trade certificates, or equivalent experience preferred (associate/technical degree is a plus).
- 3+ years of experience in instrumentation, electrical, or controls work ideally midstream/natural gas plant.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Familiarity with electrical concepts, PLC logic, SCADA operations, control loops, and safety systems.
- Proficient in reading schematics, P&IDs, and using troubleshooting tools.
- Strong computer skills, including use of CMMS and basic diagnostic software.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting capability.
- Experience with PLCs and DCS in a gas plant.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and compliance.
- Ability to work both independently in the field and collaboratively on team projects.
- Effective communication, both written and verbal, with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Heavy work: capability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 50 lbs regularly; occasionally heavier with assistance.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces or at heights.
- Manual dexterity needed for fine adjustments and component manipulation.
- Visual acuity for close and far-distance work, including depth perception and color discrimination.
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments – heat, cold, humidity, dust, vibration, and noise.
- Regular routine and PM tasks; frequent handling of energized equipment and moving parts.
- Occasional on-call rotations or emergency response requirements.
- Company vehicles provided for regular travel between plant and field sites, sometimes over rough terrain.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at all times in designated areas.
