Position Overview
- Under direct supervision of the Ti-Hirasa Domestic Violence Program Coordinator, the Victim Advocate will coordinate comprehensive services for victims and their families including crisis intervention, safety planning, court support, case management, and community referrals. This position will be on call 24/7 to answer the crisis line and provide immediate services to ensure victim safety.
Essential Functions - 1. Provide crisis intervention for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking.
2. Assist with obtaining Protective Orders as requested by the victims.
3. Collaborate with medical service providers and law enforcement to ensure victim safety and offender accountability.
4. Provide court advocacy and/or accompany victims for legal proceedings and court appointments.
5. Provide safety planning, emotional support, legal assistance, and advocacy services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking.
6. Ensure victim safety and confidentiality.
7. Maintain accurate client files, program files, and other necessary documents.
8. Follow all mandated reporting requirements.
9. Respond to requests for advocacy services from law enforcement and medical professionals. 10. Assist the Prevention Specialist with coordinating community-based prevention programs, services, activities, and training. 11. Assist the Prevention Specialist with monthly Empowerment Support Group after regular work hours, 5:30-7:30 pm. 12. Collaborate and participate with other programs with the Division of Health and Community Services-after hours or weekend.
13. Prepare purchase orders, check requests, and other procurement activities. 14. When necessary and appropriate, transports victims to/from case-related appointments and/or court proceedings. 15. Assist clients with emergency shelter, housing, groceries, household items, utilities, clothing, etc. 16. Contribute to team effort and accomplish related results as required. 17. Perform other duties assigned by supervisor within the scope of the position.
Educational Requirements
- Minimum:
Associate degree in Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field. Preference:
Bachelors' Degree in Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field. Willing to substitute (3) years of experience in lieu of minimum education requirement.

Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as law enforcement reports, government or agency regulations and legal interpretations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and policy and procedure recommendations. Ability to speak effectively before individuals, public groups and employees.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Computer:
Proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, Internet Explorer, etc. Proficiency in the proper use of and operation of standard office equipment. Communication:
Ability to communicate effectively with law enforcement, healthcare professionals, court/legal professionals, social services, and other outside agencies. Ability to communicate effectively with program clientele, the general public, tribal members, Pawnee Nation employees, and other concerned parties. Must possess strong administrative, public relations, and communications skills. Skilled in the use of business communications (proper spelling/grammar). Skilled in the use of business arithmetic (accounting, etc.).
Miscellaneous:
Ability to pass a background check. Must possess the ability to provide clients with compassionate care respective of Native American customs, traditions, and beliefs. Must demonstrate a basic understanding of clients' rights and responsibilities, including familiarity with confidentiality requirements. Must be able to conduct research, analyze information, and interpret data. Must possess the ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
Must possess the ability to be persuasive and tactful in controversial situations. Must possess the ability to meet deadlines, adapt to changing priorities, and work well under pressure.
