Summary:

Individual must be willing and able to drive assigned routes as needed and assist other drivers with various duties. Drives a school bus safely in accordance with time schedules, transporting students to and from homes, schools, and field trips.

• Operate a two-way radio.
• Oversee the loading and unloading of students, releasing them to authorized individuals.
• Maintain order and discipline of passengers; resolve disputes, document and report severe disciplinary cases.
• Conduct daily safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle.
• Ensure the bus is maintained in safe and clean condition.
• Report needed mechanical repairs.
• Install special safety belts.
• Sweep interior and wash windows daily.
• Service the bus with gas and oil.
• Maintain records and reports including mileage, routing, maintenance, and schedules.
• Attend meetings, programs, and in-service training.
• Maintain current required licenses and certificates.
• Notify individuals of any route delays.
• Assist with other routes during breakdowns or unusual circumstances.
• Perform other tasks, duties or services consistent with this position as assigned.

Education:

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
• Must possess or be willing to obtain a CDL-Class B combination with passenger and school bus endorsement.
• Must possess or be willing to obtain a State of Oklahoma School Bus Driving Certificate.
• Must have a clean driving record.

Experience:

• Previous experience driving a passenger bus preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must pass an annual DOT physical.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
