General Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Business Affairs and with the collaboration of an assigned supervisor, the Institutional Work Study (IWS) provides assistance in a number of job opportunities within the College of the Muscogee Nation.

Program Requirements
  • Maintain 12 or more credit hours per trimester.
  • Maintain a 2.0 grade point average (the Peer Tutor position requires a 3.0).
  • Pass a drug screen and background check.
  • Adhere to the CMN attendance policy.
  • Dress professionally.
  • Complete FERPA training and sign the Confidentiality and FERPA agreement during orientation.
Termination Conditions
  • Withdraws electively or administratively.
  • Falls below 12 enrolled credit hours.
  • Completes course of study at CMN.
  • Violates FERPA or the confidentiality agreement.
  • Violates other requirements stated in this policy.
  • Employment Terms

    IWS students may work a maximum of 20 hours per week, contingent upon a student’s class schedule. Employment may continue without interruption if the student continues to meet program requirements at the end of each trimester.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities
    • Bookstore – sales, stocking, cash register, janitorial.
    • Cafeteria – sales, cash register, janitorial, kitchen assistance, food handling.
    • Student housing – office support services, transportation, student resources, enforcement of CMN policies, maintenance.
    • Offices – office support services, backup support for reception desk.
    • Library – office support services, check‑out of literature/electronic equipment, maintenance, re‑shelving of books and supplies.
    • Office support services – assist with the preparation of documents and filing.
    • Enter data in the data bank, sort documents, copy, and fax.
    • Computer skills in word‑processing and spreadsheets are helpful.
    • Able to take direction and carry out instructions.
    • Must interact with the public in a polite, friendly manner.
    • May be asked to hand‑carry documents between college offices in different buildings.
    • Answer the telephone and take messages.
    • Assist instructors.
    • Work on projects.
    • Any and all other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications

    Minimum Requirements
    • Good interpersonal skills.
    • Willing to learn and take direction.
    • Able to read instructions and write small reports.
    • Must be a full‑time student in the College of the Muscogee Nation.
    Preferred Requirements
    • Strong computer skills in word‑processing, PowerPoint, and spreadsheets.
    • Excellent oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Uses discretion, judgment, and initiative effectively.
    Special Considerations
    • Related experience in a college or similar organization.
    • Experience with in the Tribal Government and ability to speak the Muscogee language is preferable but not required.
    • Native American and Veteran Preference.
    Licensure

    Valid Driver’s License. Food Handler’s permit, if applicable.
