About this PositionGENERAL
SUMMARY:
This position will provide cross-program instructional support and lab assistance for associate in applied science degree programs within the School of Transportation and Heavy Equipment (STHE), including programs in automotive and heavy equipment technology.
Required QualificationsEducation
:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, Heavy Equipment Technology, or a related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Other combinations of education and industry experience may be substituted for degree requirements.
Experience:
- Evidence of a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
- A minimum of five years of industry experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment technology; five years preferred.
- Demonstrated technical competency across both automotive and heavy equipment disciplines.
- Teaching, training, or instructional support experience preferred.
- Demonstrated success in collaborating with various constituencies.
Additional post-secondary education beyond requirements may substitute for years of required experience.
Certifications, Registrations, and/or Licenses:
Licensure/Certification:
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
- Industry-recognized certification required; ASE certification and/or OEM program certification preferred.
Skills, Proficiencies, and/or Knowledge:

- Demonstrated knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, fuel systems, electrical/electronic systems, brake systems, and related areas.
- Demonstrated knowledge of heavy equipment systems, including diesel engines, hydraulics, power trains, undercarriage, and related areas.
- Ability to plan, organize, and fulfill complex initiatives.
- Computer skills to include electronic communications, word processing, and the ability to use specific software associated with the position.
- Ability to maintain high standards of work, initiative, commitment, ethics, professional responsibility, and judgment.
- Superior interpersonal skills—including the ability to effectively recognize and resolve complex problems in a constructive manner.
