Role Purpose
The Process Control Engineer, as part of the Project Engineering department at the Tate & Lyle Okmulgee facility, will interface with a diverse team of personnel such as manufacturing plant operations and technical/engineering (Safety, Instrumentation, manufacturing process experts, applications engineers, etc.). This position will help install, maintain, support, and improve site process controls assets and systems, and will also serve as a key resource to support and lead plant optimization efforts regarding capacity, cost, quality, safety, and environmental improvements utilizing process controls techniques.

Level 2 – Important Role:
Drive EHSQ excellence, culture, and improvements in the area of responsibility. EHSQMS Element owner support. Focus on EHSQ systems, policies, procedures, and their effects on day‑to‑day operations. Audit and review EHSQ effectiveness in area. All employees are responsible for compliance with procedures that implement the requirements of the EHSQ policies and procedures, being responsible for their own actions, carrying out their work in a manner which does not present a risk to themselves, others, and the environment, reporting all incidents, defects, hazards, and inadequacies of procedures so that appropriate review and corrective action can be taken, and suggesting improvements.
- Confers with operators, supervisors and engineers to elicit known requirements of the business and suggests previously unconsidered improvements for evaluation.
- Meets with engineering team to define and implement process control and instrumentation projects.
- Provides technical and operational expertise for the day‑to‑day support of the process control systems and infrastructure.
- Interfaces with vendors and area personnel to assist in purchasing and deployment of solutions.
- Interfaces with outside consultants, engineering, company process control specialists, and area personnel to coordinate development and deployment of custom solutions.
- Troubleshoots control systems hardware and software failures for Delta V and Microsoft systems.
- Participates in projects to replace servers, develop new networks, and improve control system sustainability.
- Complies with all Tate and Lyle standards, such as Process Control Practices, documentation, Management of Change, and design review procedures.
- Responds via telephone (and occasionally in person) to off‑hour callouts and requests for support.
- Assists E&I technicians to resolve issues related to automation and control systems.
- Technically supports operations and capital projects in the operation, modification and maintenance of all HMI, control system components and sub‑systems.
- All duties performed in accordance with Tate & Lyle’s environmental, safety and health guidelines for a PSM facility.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Chemical) or equivalent technical discipline.
- 0–3 years of working knowledge of DCS and PLC based process control systems.
- Self‑starter with excellent troubleshooting skills, required to be on call to provide plant support during off hours and weekends.
