Role Purpose

Responsible for assisting in optimizing and developing manufacturing processes within the area by collaborating with various teams.

Main Responsibilities
  • Identify and implement process improvements that result in higher throughput, improved efficiencies, cost savings, and consistent product quality.
  • Lead the strategic identification, planning, and execution of process improvements.
  • Lead the execution of Focus Improvements projects with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Spearhead collaboration among Engineering, Plant Operations, and Innovation to define cutting‑edge plant processes.
  • Develop, review, and maintain process engineering documentation, including mass and energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, and process descriptions.
  • Oversee complex process engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Drive excellence in third‑party calculations for equipment specification, maintaining high levels of process safety.
  • Direct the start‑up of new systems, provide expert training, and resolve complex operational challenges.
  • Supervise and guide detailed design work, ensuring alignment with standards, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Formulate supplier engagement strategies, evaluate equipment options, and negotiate technical proposals.
  • Conduct risk assessments such as HAZOP and contribute to food safety assessments for projects.
  • Support Process Capacity Modeling and Lead OEE Analysis to drive plant performance.
  • Mitigate risk classification and prioritization related to Process Safety Management (PSM).
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Area Production Engineers.
  • Support Management of Change and Operational Excellence programs.
  • Travel strategically to support trials and projects across sites and vendors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Food, Environment, Health & Safety Duty of Care

Carry out responsibilities according to food safety, legal, and quality requirements to ensure products are fit for human consumption. Comply with all environmental standards and report violations or near misses. Adhere to safety policies, participate fully in the safety program, and audit incidents or near misses.

Performance Measures

The incumbent will be measured against site EHS, Quality, Production, and Reliability goals.

Skills, Training and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in process engineering or leadership roles, including plant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with utilities such as steam generation, compressed air, chilled water, distillation, and WWTP.
  • Strong knowledge of PSM/HAZOP studies and unit operations, process design, M&E balance, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of food industry concepts, hygienic design principles, material approvals, and cleaning processes.
  • Advanced expertise in process optimization, engineering principles, and relevant tools.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and deliver results.
  • In‑depth knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, regulatory compliance, and industry best practices.
  • Strong commitment to safety leadership and operational excellence.
Compensation

Salary range: $90,000 - $135,000. Tate & Lyle complies with all local/state regulations requiring salary range transparency.
