General
Summary:
Under the direction of the Administrative Officer, the dispatcher is a civilian public safety position of the Muscogee ( Creek) Nation responsible for receiving, prioritizing, and dispatching emergency and non- emergency calls for police, fire, emergency medical services, and other authorized responders. The position serves as a critical link between the public and emergency responders by providing accurate, timely communications and coordinating public safety resources.
Dispatch supports public safety operations occurring within the Muscogee ( Creek) Nation' s jurisdiction, as well as other areas where services are provided through mutual aid, intergovernmental agreements, or lawful authority. This position does not exercise law-enforcement authority, does not perform sworn duties, and does not supervise detainees or prisoners. Duties are performed in a high- stress, fast- paced dispatch center environment and require strict adherence to departmental policy, confidentiality requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations governing criminal justice information systems.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Receive, prioritize, and process emergency and non- emergency calls for service.
Dispatch law enforcement, fire, emergency medical, and other public safety personnel in accordance with established protocols.
Obtain and relay critical information accurately and clearly under stressful conditions.
Monitor radio traffic, alarms, and communication systems to ensure timely response and officer
safety.
Maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation related to calls for
service and dispatch
activities.
Enter, update, and retrieve information from computer- aided dispatch
CAD), records management systems, and other authorized databases.

Coordinate communication between field units, supervisors, partner agencies, and emergency responders.
Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive, restricted, and criminal justice information.
Comply with departmental policies, procedures, and applicable laws governing public safety
communications.
Perform other job- related duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position as assigned.
Authority and Limitations The Dispatcher position is a civilian, non- sworn role and does not exercise
law-enforcement authority. This position does not have arrest powers, investigative authority, or enforcement authority. All duties are performed in support of public safety operations and within established policies and procedures.
Use of Firearms and Force
This position does not carry firearms and does not apply physical force in the performance of
assigned duties.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods while operating communication and computer equipment.
Ability to hear, speak, and communicate clearly via telephone, radio, and other communication devices.
Ability to view computer screens and read written materials for extended periods.
Ability to work in a fast- paced environment involving multiple tasks and competing priorities.
Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
Work is primarily performed in a secured communications center environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certifications and licenses:
Must obtain and maintain Oklahoma Law
Enforcement Telecommunications
System ( OLETS) certification within required time frames. Must obtain and maintain Emergency Medical Dispatch ( EMD) certification as required by the department.
Preferred Requirements:
Education:
Prior experience in public safety dispatch, communications, emergency services, or a related field.
Experience:
Experience with OLETS/ NCIC or other criminal justice information systems.
Special skills:
