Position: Operator I

Role Purpose

Packaging Operator I is responsible for the packaging of base gum material, reprocessing of work‑in‑process material (reblending, milling, and agglomeration), and cleaning associated with biogum products. The position requires knowledge and understanding of the technology and process operations to operate and troubleshoot the equipment efficiently and safely. The operator must make decisions to correct deviations in process conditions and assist in troubleshooting operational problems.

Responsibilities

All employees are responsible for compliance with EHSQ policies, ensuring their actions do not pose risks to themselves, others, or the environment, reporting incidents and hazards, and suggesting improvements to maintain a safe, environmentally responsible, reliable, and cost‑effective operation.

Responsibilities
  • Work independently and collaboratively to complete assigned tasks and operate equipment.
  • Operate and troubleshoot packaging, reblending, milling, agglomeration, and blending equipment.
  • Adhere to GMP regulations and plant policies.
  • Perform cleaning procedures, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and use of specialized tools and high‑pressure hoses.
  • Support forklift operation, including loading, unloading, and operating on varied terrain.
  • Package products in fiber drums, boxes, or bags, label and stack pallets for shipment.
  • Handle equipment and material‑handling tasks that may require manual lifting, bending, or stooping.
  • Operate computer interfaces to monitor process conditions and record data.
  • Apply product codes to drums and maintain accurate records.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Ability to handle manual labor, lift up to 300lb, and work in temperatures ranging from below freezing to 90°F.
