DescriptionMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education – Graduation from an accredited practical nursing curriculum is required.
Experience – One (1) year relevant experience as a member of a nursing team.
Licenses & Certification – Incumbent is required to possess current licensure by the State of Oklahoma or National Council of State Boards of Nursing for Practical Nursing Current BLS certification or within 60 days of hire. Must have CPI or similar within 60 days of employment.
Knowledge & Skills –
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to perform a moderately difficult range of nursing care.
- Knowledge of human body structure, function, illnesses, and/or disease entities and skill sufficient to communicate with nurses, patients, family members and clinic staff.
- Knowledge and skill to interview and assess patients for complaints.
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to assess immunization status and to administer immunizations in accordance with current immunization schedules and to recognize contraindications and adverse reactions.
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to prepare dosages, administer medications, and recognize contraindications of prescribed medications.
- Knowledge and skill sufficient to respond to emergency situations.
The purpose of the position is to provide nursing services and support to the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Medical Center (MCNMC). The Licensed Practical Nurse will consistently display behavior that enhances the image of the health care system as evidenced by professional and courteous behavior toward all customers and co-workers. The LPN is primarily responsible for the delivery of clinical nursing care for geriatric patients on the inpatient psychiatric unit.
WorkEnvironment
Work is performed in an ambulatory health care setting. There is common exposure to infectious communicable diseases, potentially hazardous chemicals, and biohazardous materials. Must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as requested and required.
Physical DemandsWork in the ambulatory health care setting requires considerable walking between exam and treatment rooms and long periods of moving about the work unit. Work requires regular and recurring bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting of patients or similar activities.
