ROLE
PURPOSE:
E&I Technicians perform a wide variety of activities which support the facility and maintain production. Shifts are either eight hours, 5 days a week, with occasional overtime work, or 12 hour rotating shifts with occasional overtime work. An Instrumentation Technician may be required to work in one or more plant areas, doing one or multiple assignments during any given work shift.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Repair, install and replace electrical equipment and devices, and instruments including electric motors, fuses, relays, electric and network cables, pressure transmitters, temperature transmitters, level transmitters and switches, flow transmitters and process sensors.
- Troubleshoot through PLC and DCS programs and replace PLC and DCS components.
- Work independently or in small groups to install, repair, replace equipment, including control valves, motors, instruments and other process equipment.
- Work independently or in pairs to repair equipment at workstation.
- Use a variety of handheld tools, applying up to 100 pounds of torque to disassemble mechanical units.
- Walk or stand on various surfaces to transport materials, equipment and tools between work areas.
- Stand approximately 5–6 hours per day, including climbing up to five flights of stairs 3–4 times a day.
- Kneel, crouch or crawl to reach restricted work areas at least 1–2 times daily.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, with temperatures ranging from
-32°F to over 100°F, and indoors up to 110°F or higher.
- Associate degree and/or Military Training and 1–2 years of hands‑on experience in Electronics, Instrumentation, Controls, or electrical systems, or high school degree/GED and 4 years of hands‑on experience.
- Apprenticeship program with minimum two (2) years of on‑the‑job training acceptable.
- Ability to read and write, read blueprints, and work with 280
VAC 3‑ph equipment. - Experience with DCS and PLC systems, basic PLC and drives knowledge, electrical motors and controls.
- Ability to use computerized maintenance software and comply with GMP regulations.
- Good understanding of electrical, instrumentation and hand tools, and ability to use Hart Communicator, a multimeter, basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of instrument calibration (flow, pressure, level) and troubleshooting electrical diagrams.
