Job Summary
Assist the AEP Material Services organization by performing duties related to store operations. This entry‑level position is performed under training and learning supervision and progresses to independent work as experience is gained.
Responsibilities- Issue material under proper authorization and process related records.
- Check received material for quantity, visual condition, and identity; initiate and process material receipts.
- Identify, sort, and record returned material; place usable units in stock and dispose of non‑usable material in scrap containers.
- Operate computer terminals, printers, calculators, scanners, and the materials management system.
- Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage, including required shipping papers.
- Handle hazardous materials such as gasoline, oil, oil containing PCB, and lead‑acid batteries following safety and environmental procedures.
- Operate material handling equipment such as hand trucks, forklift trucks, low‑lift trucks, hoists, overhead cranes, order pickers, and other required equipment.
- Assist the supervisor with efficient storage of materials, rearrangement of bins and racks, and material location changes.
- Assist with maintaining adequate inventory levels through cycle counts and perform discrepancy adjustments with appropriate approval.
- Assist employees of equal or higher classification and perform similar or lower‑skill work as needed.
- Perform duties in accordance with Company safety rules, operating regulations, and practices.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one year experience in inventory control, material handling, warehousing, or related work.
- Basic computer skills, including inventory management software such as Maximo, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
- Knowledge of logistics related to shipping and relocating inventory.
- Basic math skills and ability to perform basic math functions.
- Ability to work independently and possess good communication skills.
- Physical capability to lift up to 70 pounds and successful completion of the Physical Ability Test (PAT).
- Valid State driver’s license; if a Commercial Driver License (CDL) is required, obtain it within six months of entry into the job class.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment, including motorized forklifts and road vehicles.
- Heavy work: exert 50–100 pounds of force occasionally, 25–50 pounds of force frequently, and 10–20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical demands exceed those for medium work.
Grade: U070‑962 | Salary Range: $26.34 – $34.80 per hour.
