Overview
We are seeking a full‑time Buyer at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will manage the acquisition of assigned commodities and products, ensuring on‑time delivery and optimal inventory levels.
Essential Functions- Drive performance to meet world‑class levels in supplier Quality, Cost, Delivery and Service (QCDS)
- Lead supplier development through partnering agreements and QCDS initiatives
- Plan, order, and deliver all components, products and services for on‑time fulfillment across the organization
- Monitor inventory levels of assigned commodities to maximize turns and minimize obsolescence
- Review, analyze, develop, and negotiate procurement contracts supporting Garmin’s Master Production Schedule (MPS)
- Prepare cost‑price analyses for supplier partnering agreements and projects
- Compile inventory costing records, including Purchase Price Variance (PPV), scrap and rework costs
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Marketing to source new supplies for product development
- Maintain knowledge of department processes, procedures, work instructions, and training requirements in support of ISO
9000/QS9000 - Drive continuous improvement to meet departmental goals and metrics
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong verbal, written, negotiating, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills
- Self‑starter with a proven track record of prioritizing, organizing, and multitasking in a fast‑paced environment
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRPII) / Master Production Schedule (MPS) processes
- Understanding of manufacturing requirements and ability to assess supplier capabilities
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Power Point
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, Materials, or equivalent experience
- CPIM (Certified Production & Inventory Management) or CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) certification
- Previous experience in electronics manufacturing or repair purchasing
