Position: Training Media Specialist Consumer Sales 1

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Training Media Specialist Consumer Sales 1 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, shooting, and editing video materials presented to customers through various support channels while partnering with the Consumer Electronics Segments to create media content needed for supporting partnering retail associate needs with a focus on increasing mind-share and competency in Garmin’s product offerings.

Functions
  • Produce/deliver high-quality videos and photos on a scheduled basis, meeting production deadlines
  • Assist in video/still shoots
  • Display strong technical support skills understanding Garmin products and customer expectations
  • Communicate/collaborate closely with Consumer Sales leaders and team members on planning of content
  • Collaborate with Consumer Sales Digital Training Manager and Content Developers to write scripts and design storyboards for content discussed with Consumer Sales leadership
  • Revise content as needed taking all feedback into account and using sound judgment in decision making
  • Remain current on changes in policies, procedures, and product offerings
  • Become knowledgeable in the specifications, capabilities and operation of Garmin products and software applications across all consumer markets
  • Understand customer/retail associate needs regarding Garmin products, features and benefits in order to develop media to assist in increasing retail sales
  • Produce content as requested from non-segment sources such as the training team or other managers
  • Review previously created content regularly for accuracy and necessity
  • Represent department and company image to the public by means of training material, mainly focused on videos
  • Ensure a high level of quality/accuracy is maintained in all content released to the public
  • Timely completion of tasks and/or projects of high complexity within the defined process
  • Work collaboratively/professionally with other Garmin associates
  • Offer suggestions for improving processes and guidelines
  • Understand and apply Garmin’s Mission, Vision and Values
  • Stay informed of digital technology, video and film developments and changes
  • Ability to support up to 25% travel
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience (experience could include supporting Garmin products for internal applicants) OR a minimum of 5 years equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in filming or editing content
  • Demonstrated proficiency with video editing software
  • Personal or professional demonstrated technical aptitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Excellent researching, writing and editing skills for videos
  • Possess keen attention to detail/quality, able to exercise sound judgment while working proactively/effectively with minimal supervision, and able to prioritize/multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment
  • Possess strong communication skills when working with staff at various levels
  • Must exhibit professionalism, be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
  • Possess customer experience and Garmin product knowledge
Desired Qualifications
  • Spoken and verbal presentations skills that lend themselves to on-camera training
  • Training experience with high profile clients and/or business partners
  • Practical experience in post-secondary or adult education
  • Knowledge of Garmin and competitive products
  • Experience in developing interactive, multimedia training materials
